Jeff Emmerson

Mental Health Author, Ontario Social Work Student and Educational Assistant

Jeff Emmerson is an Ontario Bachelor of Social Work student with an Indigenous focus,
Educational Assistant, mental health author and future researcher with interests in forensic social work (violence risk, serious mental illness, justice involvement, rehabilitation, public safety and community reintegration), hospital social work, school social work, crisis response, community mental health and future clinical practice.
He is also working on a memoir that may or may not ever see the light of day. These days, he seems less interested in proving he existed and more interested in honouring the people who helped keep him alive long enough to rebuild after his brother Ryan's suicide and his own internal battles. A seed was planted in 2013, inside the psych ward at Grand River Hospital: social work, service and a different kind of life. He is following it now, finishing what he started and letting the work speak for itself."This journey and PhD mission is dedicated to my inner child, my family and those who helped me when I needed it along the way. None of us rise alone."
